Report states that 55 zero-day vulnerabilities were exploited by hackers in 2022

Cybersecurity firm Mandiant has released a report stating that a large number of zero-day vulnerabilities in various software were exploited by hackers in 2022, reaching a high level in recent years. Hackers exploited 55 zero-day vulnerabilities in 2022, although this number is lower than in 2021 (88 zero-day vulnerabilities). Microsoft, Google, and Apple’s software had the most zero-day vulnerabilities exposed in 2022. Microsoft had a total of 18 zero-day vulnerabilities, Google had 10, and Apple had 9. Mandiant expects the number of reports on these types of vulnerabilities to continue to rise as attackers seek stealthiness and ease of use, and zero-day attacks can meet both of these conditions.

Just last week, Microsoft fixed a critical zero-day vulnerability discovered in Outlook.
