TikTok has developed a new feature – users will be given a refresh button that can reset TikTok’s recommended content back to its original state, like a brand new account, allowing TikTok to collect user preferences again and recommend new content.
This avoids users being flooded with repetitive and uninteresting recommended videos, which can lead to fatigue. At the same time, it can solve some negative issues, such as a survey by The Wall Street Journal showing that teenage users are easily overwhelmed by TikTok videos related to weight loss and eating disorders.
TikTok has been testing the refresh button since February this year. It will be officially rolled out to global users in the coming weeks.
