YouTube appears to be testing injecting ads into video feeds, rather than having them as separate videos. This would make it harder for ad blockers like SponsorBlock to block ads, since the ads are now part of the video feed. However, the developer of another ad-blocking extension, uBlock Origin, said there is still a way around this. For now, Google’s change appears to be an experiment, and it’s not clear when, or if, it will roll out more widely.
