According to IDC, global tablet shipments in the fourth quarter of 2023 declined by 17.4% year-on-year, with a total of 36.8 million units shipped during the same period. The annual shipments reached 128.5 million units, a decrease of 20.5% compared to the previous year, marking the lowest level since 2011. Anuroopa Nataraj, Senior Research Analyst at IDC’s Mobile and Consumer Devices Trackers, stated that due to the lack of significant improvement in the economy, consumers have tightened their spending on electronic products, and the priority given to purchasing tablets has decreased. However, it is expected that there will be some opportunities for rebound in 2024, provided that the economy becomes more stable.
In 2023, the biggest winner in the tablet market was Xiaomi, with a 35% year-on-year growth in shipments in the fourth quarter. The biggest loser was Apple, with shipments shrinking by 29.3%.
