Valve has ceased support for Steam on Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 as of January 1, 2024. The company had announced this decision last year. Valve software, applications, and games will continue to run for a period of time, but there will be no further updates, and users on these systems will not receive assistance for technical issues. Valve has discontinued support for these systems because “the latest features in Steam rely on an embedded version of Google Chrome that no longer supports older versions of Windows.”
