Valve, the developer of Steam, has released a support document stating that Steam will end support for two older macOS versions, High Sierra (10.13) and Mojave (10.14), on February 15, 2024. At that time, Valve will stop releasing updates for the Steam client on these systems (including security updates) and cease providing technical support. The reason is the termination of Google Chrome support on macOS High Sierra and Mojave – several parts of the Steam client rely on embedded Chrome, which will soon stop running on Apple’s older operating systems. In addition, Valve states that future versions of Steam will depend on features and security updates only available in macOS Catalina (10.15) and higher versions.
