Google announced this morning that it has lifted the 5 million file storage limit recently imposed on its cloud-based storage service, Google Drive. Google admitted: “We recently made a system update to the Drive project’s limitations to maintain stability and optimize performance. Although this only affected a few people, we are rolling back this change while exploring alternative methods to ensure all users have a good experience.”
Last week, Reddit users discovered that Google Drive seemed to have set a limit on the number of files that could be stored; an error message would appear when the total number of stored files reached 5 million and no further files could be uploaded.
