Spotify has announced to the media that it will be shutting down its audio live streaming application, Spotify Live. The company stated that some of the features of Spotify Live have been integrated into Spotify and there is no longer sufficient reason to provide a separate application.
Spotify Live was an independent audio live streaming application similar to Clubhouse, where artists or podcasters could initiate live broadcasts and performances. The predecessor of Spotify Live was Locker Room, an application acquired by the company in 2021. After taking over, Spotify renamed it Greenroom before finally renaming it as Spotify Live. However, its popularity has always been far behind its competitor Clubhouse.
