According to The New York Times, internal documents seen by the media show that Twitter plans to offer a gold verification badge for free to 10,000 of the most popular companies and 500 of the largest advertisers. It is unclear whether these companies and advertisers will automatically receive the badge or if they need to apply for it.
The official price for a gold badge is $1,000 per month plus a $50 verification fee.
