Google chatbot Bard will switch to a more powerful PaLM model

Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated that its AI chatbot Bard will switch to a larger PaLM language model. The current LaMDA model being used has a relatively small dataset. The transition from LaMDA to PaLM may happen quickly. Pichai said that PaLM will bring more functionality in inference, encoding, and other areas – Google had explicitly stated when Bard was first released that it did not have encoding capabilities.

Chatbots such as ChatGPT, Bing Chat, and Bard have helped many people improve their work efficiency but also raised concerns among the public. Recently, over a thousand tech industry professionals signed an open letter calling for a pause on large-scale language model experiments and urging the establishment of regulatory and supporting mechanisms.
