The UK has shelved plans to develop non-fungible tokens (NFTs)

The UK government has suspended plans to develop non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Following discussions with the Royal Mint and the Treasury, the plan to mint NFTs has been put on hold, but authorities have said they will continue to review the proposal.

Harriet Baldwin, Chair of the Treasury Committee, said: “We haven’t seen a lot of evidence that our constituents should be putting their money into these speculative tokens unless they’re prepared to lose all their funds. So perhaps that’s why the Royal Mint and Treasury have jointly made this decision.
