Along with the release of iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4, Apple has also released updates for its older iPhone and iPad models, namely iOS 15.7.4 and iPadOS 15.7.4 respectively. iOS 15.7.4 fixes multiple vulnerabilities that could allow reading contacts through accessibility features or allowing applications to execute kernel-level code. One of these vulnerabilities (CVE-2023-23529) is a zero-day vulnerability that attackers can exploit to execute code on an iPhone via a phishing page on the network. Apple stated that this vulnerability has been exploited in the wild but did not provide details.
iOS 15.7.4 and iPadOS 15.7 are compatible with iPhone 6s (all models), iPhone 7 (all models), first-generation iPhone SE, iPad Air2, fourth-generation iPad mini, and seventh-generation iPod touch.
