Microsoft’s practice of pushing advertisements through the Windows 11 Start menu, such as reminding users to “back up your files” using OneDrive, has caused a lot of user backlash. The good news is that Microsoft will allow users to disable these types of ads. According to ruancan.com, in Win11 build 23419 released to the Dev channel, Microsoft introduced a hidden feature that allows users to open or close account-related notifications in the Start menu. This option can be found under Settings > Personalization > Start and is called “Occasionally show account-related notifications on the Start menu.”
Currently, this feature can only be enabled using the ViveTool tool and it is unclear whether it will be officially released in the future.
