Google search will launch extreme heat alerts this year

Google will launch extreme heat notifications in Google Search later this year. When users search for information on extreme heat, such as typing “heat wave” in the search bar, Google will display a high temperature alert that includes tips on how to stay cool and an estimated start and end time of the high temperatures. According to Google’s data, searches related to heat waves peaked last July, with approximately 500,000 people losing their lives due to extreme heat each year.

In addition, Google has announced that its Tree Canopy tool is now available in 350 cities worldwide. The tool uses satellite imagery to create digital maps of urban tree canopy coverage and provides reference for local governments to increase tree coverage.
