The Audible app, owned by Amazon, is currently testing advertising in some audiobooks. Audible has confirmed that it is conducting a “limited test” involving audiobooks, popular podcasts and its original audio program called Audible Originals. It explains that users can only hear eight ads within 24 hours and will not hear them too frequently in a short period of time. At the same time, providers of audio content can choose to opt-in or opt-out of advertising.
Advertising appears to be limited to free users of Audible, as monthly subscribers to Audible Plus will not receive ads.
