OpenAI faces complaints from non-profit organizations over the development of GPT-4: Lack of regulation and protective measures

OpenAI has been complained against for developing GPT-4. The non-profit organization AI and Digital Policy Center (CAIDP) has filed a complaint with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), requesting that the agency investigate OpenAI and halt its commercial deployment of large language models (LLMs) until protective measures are established.

CAIDP emphasized FTC guidance on artificial intelligence, which states that AI should be “transparent, interpretable, fair, and experienced while promoting accountability.” CAIDP said that GPT-4 does not meet any of these requirements. The organization also called on the FTC to ensure that all commercial AI products in the United States are subject to independent supervision and evaluation.
