Microsoft has announced that it will launch its Unified Update Platform (UUP) mechanism on March 28, 2023. With local UUP, businesses and organizations can expect smaller update downloads, but in the March 28 update, Microsoft will offer a one-time 10GB download. Once installed, users can expect future updates through UUP. Microsoft will re-release the KB5023706 update, which does not include any additional fixes, but will support future UUP updates.
“In summary, UUP is the future of Windows 11 version 22H2 updates. If your WSUS or Microsoft Configuration Manager is configured to synchronize, your organization will start synchronizing an additional 10GB download after March 28. It’s just a one-time download to the distribution point. After that, all Windows 11 22H2 updates will be UUP local updates, and the size downloaded to the distribution point will be the same as before UUP upgrades,” Microsoft stated.
Microsoft has also integrated .NET updates into UUP, which will make updates to .NET Framework components faster.
