Apple starts tightening its belt: delays bonus payments and reduces new hires

Although Apple has not followed suit in layoffs, it has reportedly suspended or delayed some employee and management bonuses and cut back on hiring plans for some departments and projects in order to save money. This mainly affects departments that receive bonuses twice a year. According to the new strategy, their bonuses will be delayed until October but will not be reduced in amount. Previously one of their two bonuses was scheduled for April.

Previously Apple had already fired some contractors reduced travel budgets and cut CEO Tim Cook’s pay.
