After a long wait, Twitter finally revealed its pricing plan for paid Twitter API. Twitter is sending new pricing notifications to users who currently use free API access.
The paid Twitter API will offer three plans with different levels of access rights.
- Small Package: Open up 50 million tweets per month at $42,000 ($500k per year).
- Medium Package: Open up 100 million tweets per month at $125k ($1.5 million per year)
- Large Package: Open up 200 million tweets per month at $210k ($2.5 million per year).
After announcing prices there was shock – Twitter’s pricing seems too expensive. Even academic researchers who can no longer access Twitter API for free may not be able afford new prices. Obviously paid Twitter API clearly shows that Twitter will make API an important source of revenue.
