Microsoft China’s official Weibo account released a statement today clarifying misunderstandings related to personal users using Microsoft consumer products and services that were spread by some domestic self-media outlets recently.

Microsoft has always strictly adhered to various laws and regulations on personal privacy protection and data security. All the products and services provided by Microsoft, as well as cross-border data management, strictly comply with laws and regulations.
Microsoft has always strictly protected and defended user privacy. When processing personal data, Microsoft only collects the most basic data that is necessary to provide and maintain services within the scope allowed by laws and regulations and with the user’s permission, which does not include data stored by individual users in the applications and devices.
