Musk is setting up a new lab to build his own chatbot, and has recruited former Google DeepMind AI researcher Igor Babuschkin to lead the project. The new project aims to improve the reasoning ability and authenticity of language models, including ensuring that the model’s responses are more trustworthy and reliable.
Despite being the founder of OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, Musk has been publicly critical of the company and its chatbot, ChatGPT. Musk believes ChatGPT has been “awakened” and has provided many incorrect, biased, and even harmful answers.
Musk’s dissatisfaction with OpenAI stems from another reason. OpenAI was initially created as an open-source, non-profit company to serve as a counterbalance to Google. Musk claims that OpenAI has now become a closed-source, profit-maximizing company controlled by Microsoft, which was never his intention.
