According to information shared by users on the Maimai app, Google China’s R&D center has reportedly laid off a large number of employees. The compensation plan of “N+9+stocks+discounted annual leave+30,000 yuan in cash compensation+medical insurance” has also been exposed, causing concern.
In March 2010, Google shut down its search service in mainland China, and its two domain names in China (google.cn and g.cn) have been redirected to Google Hong Kong (google.com.hk) since then. In recent years, it has also closed Chinese version services of Google Maps and Google Translate.
