Microsoft to provide high-speed internet to 46 least developed countries

Microsoft is partnering with Africa’s largest independent fiber network, Liquid Intelligent Technologies, to provide high-speed internet to 46 of the world’s least developed countries (LDCs), including Congo and Zambia. Microsoft plans to expand internet coverage to an additional 20 million people in Africa by 2025.

According to Microsoft, these 46 countries make up 13% of the world’s population but account for only around 1.5% of global GDP and 1% of global trade. Microsoft will also help train young and female skilled workers and build digital agricultural platforms in several countries.
