Chrome introduces several improvements that can effectively save MacBook battery

Google recently made some improvements to Chrome browser that can effectively save MacBook battery, thereby helping to extend battery life.

Google’s tests show that after the changes, users can browse web pages for up to 17 hours on a 13-inch MacBook Pro (M2, 2022), or watch YouTube for 18 hours. Some of these changes will also apply to older MacBook models. The specific changes include: adjusting the way iframes are created and deleted in Chrome to reduce short-term memory usage, reducing the number of times JavaScript timers wake up CPU and canceling internal timers, optimizing the way browser accesses data structures on web pages, reducing unnecessary redraws and bypassing some steps etc.

Readers can update Chrome version to get these changes.
