Short video app TikTok announced that users under 18 years old will have their screen time set to 60 minutes per day by default – which means they can only stream videos for 1 hour by default, and it also allows teenage users to enter passwords to extend their usage time. For users under 13 years old, they must enter their parents’ or guardians’ passwords in order to continue using the app after the limit ends.
Parents will also have additional features – they can track their children’s usage of TikTok (screen time, number of times opening the app, etc.), and set screen time limits for their children. TikTok will launch these changes in the next few weeks.
