Tencent, Alibaba and other companies told not to offer ChatGPT services

Tencent, Alibaba and other large Chinese tech companies have been told by regulators not to offer ChatGPT services directly or through third parties to the public. Yesterday, rumors said that some ChatGPT proxy services set up in China had been shut down.

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence platform from San Francisco-based startup OpenAI. The free online tool, trained on millions of pages of data from across the internet, generates responses to questions in a conversational tone. It can also assist users with tasks such as composing emails, essays and code. However, it has also been criticized for generating plagiarized or harmful content.
